Meet my Uncle Peter. He’s a really cool guy who happens to be an employee rights lawyer in New York and has talked with more than a thousand women and men about their work lives over the course of his career. He has a theory about why conditions are so difficult for working moms.

My first radio interview!

Tuesday evening I was interviewed for “Your Time with Kim Iverson,” a syndicated evening radio show that airs in ten cities, including Portland, Denver, and Boston. The show was about working moms and our decisions to keep working or quit working when we have kids. I talked about why, despite having a supportive husband and employer, things became so impossible for me. Listen to the interview!

Why are we here?

I was a 37-year-old mother of three* and somehow, my kids, my marriage, and my career were all thriving. Then, one sunny Saturday in the spring of 2009, while driving to Target to buy diapers, I broke down. Not my car. Me.
